French farmers demonstrated before the Council of State in Paris against the government’s restrictive policies in their activity and use of pesticides.
Government agencies require, among other things, that farmers notify hundreds of locals when they start working with pesticides on their crops.
“How can a farmer call 200 people to inform them that he is going out into the field with a tractor. “It’s madness, it’s funny,” said one of the demonstrators.
While union leader Damien Greffin, said the State Council has turned into a second government by constantly imposing sanctions against farmers.
“There is a total negligence towards farmers. “We are very much born with democracy, but there is no democracy without justice and rules,” he said.
“When we are told to notify our neighbors, it would be clear if there were three or four, but not when there are hundreds.”
“People in the Council of State have no idea. In the cultivation of grapes, for example, the Council says that we should leave our homes to take care of the vineyards.
“But how can we leave or uproot vineyards 10, 20 or 30 meters long? “This is madness,” Greffin added.
