In 2021 there was an increase in the volume of vegetable and fruit production in the country.
Vegetables marked an annual increase of 3.28%, compared to 2020, where the highest level was in the regions of Fier with 541,792 tons, Tirana with 133,579 tons and Berat with 131,830 tons.
Although easier, cereals also increased by 1.04%, led by Fieri, followed by Elbasan and Korça.
Potatoes in 2021 increased by 1.56%, compared to 2020, where Korça led, followed by Fier and Elbasan. Compared to a year ago, the production of beans decreased by 12.98%.
The production of vegetables in greenhouses represents 21.67% of the total production of vegetables, of which 52.00% of this production belongs to Fier Region. In 2021, production in greenhouses has increased by 2.64%, compared to a year ago where tomato production accounts for 51.9% of total production in greenhouses
The region with the highest percentage of vegetable production in greenhouses to the total vegetable production is Berat and Fieri, while the lowest percentage is recorded in the region of Korça and Gjirokastra.
The production of fruit trees in 2021 has increased by 4.92%, compared to 2020. The highest level of production of fruit trees was reached in the region of Korça followed by Elbasan and Fier.
Unlike other trees, the olive fell by 16.52%, compared to a year ago.
