British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss stated that the G7 countries, consisting of the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Britain, sent a very clear message to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the issue of Ukraine, warned that if he attacks Ukraine, there will be major consequences, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).
Truss made statements about Iran, China and Ukraine at the press conference held in the framework of the G7 Foreign Ministers Meeting held in Liverpool.
“We sent a very clear unified message from this G7 meeting (to Russian President) Vladimir Putin. “It was said at the meeting that any Russian intervention in Ukraine would have serious consequences at a serious price,” Truss said of tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
Stating that all options are being considered as to how Britain would respond in the event of Russian occupation of Ukraine, Truss recalled that her country has used economic sanctions to send diplomatic messages to Moscow in the past.
“The UK has been ready to impose economic sanctions when it wants to send clear messages and achieve clear goals. “We are considering all options,” Truss said.
– “Last chance for Iran to sit at the negotiating table”
Commenting on the nuclear deal with Iran, Truss said: “This is the last chance for Iran to accept the terms of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and sit down at the negotiating table with a serious solution to the issue. This is their last chance and it is vital that they do so. “We will not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons.”
Truss also made statements regarding relations with China.
“At the meeting, we made it clear that we are concerned about China’s binding economic policies. “What we want to do is create investment and economic trade access for freedom-loving democracies that share the same view,” he said.
