This is where American exporters come into play, says Anna Creti of Dauphine University in Paris. The United States is a major producer of liquefied natural gas, which can also be transported by sea. LNG, as it is otherwise known, is seen as a good alternative to natural gas, and US suppliers are willing to increase its shipments to Europe.
