The General Secretary of the Democratic Party today answered the questions of the prosecutors about the January 8 protest in the blue headquarters.
After testifying to the prosecution about the violent clashes on January 8, Bardhi gave a statement to the media.
Asked by reporters about the case that was thrown from inside the headquarters towards the supporters of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Bardhi insists that only fire extinguishers were used and there was no tear gas.
“I gave an answer and for the substance that was used, I reconfirmed that the only substance was the fire extinguishers.”
On Saturday, Democrats protested in the DP, in a rally that ended in violence, as several buildings at the headquarters were destroyed. Supporters of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha clashed with supporters of Lulzim Basha. 35 of them were arrested, but after the investigation they were released, while for some of them a ‘compulsion to appear’ was requested.
The Secretary General of the Democratic Party said that “every person who has been inside the headquarters, has undergone a full registration process and then physical control.”
Meanwhile, Bardhi describes the reactions of the supporters of the leader of the Democrats, Lulzim Basha, as “acts of self-defense to prevent the violent protesters from entering the premises where the meeting was taking place, on the second floor of the Democratic Party”.
The Democratic MP spoke again about the accusations that they changed the door locks to make them armored, so that Sali Berisha and his supporters would not enter:
“As for the metal doors I have confirmed that no office has changed the doors to make them with armored doors. You have seen that there were no doors or armored windows. I have stated that the DP has taken measures to avoid the conflict that Berisha was creating for the Democrats. Thanks to those measures, Berisha failed to return the party headquarters to the arena of bloodshed”.
The leader of the Democrats, Lulzim Basha, is currently in the prosecutor’s office, to give his testimony on January 8.
While yesterday, Sali Berisha was in front of the prosecutors and in front of the journalists he again accused Basha, that for the day of the protest, he had chosen mercenaries to bunker the PD.
“To accept to be surrounded by murderers, traffickers and gangs at a time that is protected by the guard, but even if it is not protected, you from the killer if you stay in politics you can never do it,” said Berisha.
Berisha insists there was no violence at Saturday’s rally and it was a peaceful protest.
