After damage from an explosion still under investigation, authorities in the US state of Georgia were forced to destroy a well-known granite monument there for safety reasons.
Built in the 1980s, the monument was dubbed “America’s Stonehenge”, a reference to the famous prehistoric structure in the United Kingdom.
But not everyone seemed to agree with this designation. Many critics described it as a satanic monument, despite the fact that it was inscribed with advice on how to protect humanity.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is verifying security camera footage in the area to shed more light on the explosion that partially toppled the Georgia Guidestones.
The footage shows a car speeding away from the scene and the investigation is focused there at this moment.
The 5.8-meter-tall structure near Elberton, east of Atlanta, was commissioned by a person or group of people hiding under the alias RC Christian.
On March 22, 1980, the 119-ton monument was unveiled in front of a crowd of people, one of whom, a pastor, immediately declared that it was a devil-worshipping cult, due to the similarity of its slabs to those of Stonehenge.
On each side of the stones were engraved in four ancient languages, cuneiform, ancient Greek, Sanskrit and Egyptian hieroglyphs, the words: “Let these stones be the guide of an age where reason prevails”, while in other languages there were secret instructions for rebuilding society after Judgment Day.
