The new German government, led by Social Democrat Olaf Scholz, when asked by the media in Kosovo if it supported the Open Balkan initiative, said it supported efforts to strengthen regional co-operation between the six Western Balkan countries.
Official Berlin showed in this way that cooperation should include all countries in the region.
A German Government spokesman stressed that the support for the strengthening of regional cooperation between the countries of the Western Balkans is the reason why they especially support the Common Regional Market, which is an initiative within the Berlin Process.
Political analyst Islam Krasniqi thinks that Germany values this initiative as long as it can bring rapprochement between Serbia and Kosovo.
He said that Germany was the only country that blocked Serbia for Kosovo and did so using EU membership as a tool.
“The German state is the only state that has blocked the Serbian state on the road to the EU, conditioning the connection with the Republic of Kosovo, without agreeing with the Republic of Kosovo there will be no continuation towards the EU for Serbia“, He said.
