Germany is planning to ease quarantine rules following an agreement between the federal and state governments, according to some sources.
This decision was prompted by the proliferation of the new Omicron variant, which is expected to cause an increase in coronavirus cases, posing operational threats to key infrastructure.
Under the new rules, persons will have to be quarantined for only 10 days, with the possibility of leaving the seventh day if they test negative. Currently, quarantine lasts up to 14 days depending on a number of factors.
Persons who have been in contact with an infected person will be quarantined if they have recently taken the second or third dose of the vaccine.
