Some incredible images show the moment when a greedy frog swallows a whole live mouse, from hunger.
The cruel little animal was photographed when it swallowed the 4cm long mouse from the back, chewing on its neck, which resulted in the immediate death of the rodent.
Photos taken by 48-year-old Dzul Dzulfikri, in Beksai, Indonesia, show the tail of a mouse left behind in the frog’s mouth, along with its legs.
Dzul, who witnessed the attack in the garden of his home, said the tree frog, which belonged to a friend of his, then used his whole body to chew and swallow the mouse, which took about five minutes.
He said: “Usually frogs eat insects, but this specimen saw the mouse – which was too big for the frog’s body – and caught it with its mouth within two seconds.
“Even though the mouse tried to struggle to get out of the amphibian’s mouth, it bit its neck which caused its immediate death.”
“I was standing about half a meter away from the act. “I was very surprised that this little frog ate a mouse about the size of its body.”
The green tree frogs – known as Ranoidea Caerulea – are among the largest green frogs and come from Australia.
