Former MP Halit Valteri has filed a lawsuit today in the Special Prosecution Office against the current President Ilir Meta, whom he accuses of corruption, concealment of income and abuse of office.
Together with the Head of State, Valteri has filed lawsuits against the chairwoman of the SMI, Monika Kryemadhi, the former MP Vangjel Tavo as well as the Administrator of a company based in Cyprus.
The lawsuit comes after the Austrian newspaper reported that President Meta had paid $ 700,000 for lobbying through a Cypriot shell company to provide a photo of US President Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony.
Walter states that he has been informed and has data which raises reasonable suspicions that they have committed criminal offenses.
“Taking into account many different denunciations made public, among them in 2018 by the prestigious newspaper Mother Jones and recently by the well-known Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung, it has been concluded that a very important political party in Albania has often lobbied for causes. false only for the fact that with the money financed to misinform the Albanian voters by making them think that they have the support of the American Government.
What is most important and constitutes the criminal offense, is that this financing was made by Offshore companies from the state of Cyprus in the banking systems which do not require a source of income or even provide a legal opportunity to hide the real source of income and their financiers. Administering the lobbying contracts in favor of the SMI, Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi we have also identified that these costs are not declared either in the balance sheets of the Socialist Movement for Integration for 2017 or in the Annual Periodic Declaration of the declaring entities, Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi for 2017.
Referring to these circumstances, there is a reasonable suspicion that politicians often talked about corrupt affairs such as the case of Ilir Meta with the CEZ-DIA case or even the much talked about video recording case Dritan Prifti, etc., have used money obtained from corrupt affairs by “cleared and introduced into the banking system illegally to use them for misinformation purposes for Albanian voters.” – said in the lawsuit
