The year 2014 for Erika Kordha, then 12 years old, extinguished all her dreams, after a boy raped her.
She told the story full of sacrifices for the show “Albania Live” on Top Channel this Wednesday.
In addition to the serious act that took place in Donofros of Berat, the girl also experienced a ‘social rape’, after all the people around her, starting from the family, turned their backs on her.
After the incident, she told her parents the next day and then went to the police, the authorities which should provide immediate assistance without any hesitation in such events.
But this did not happen, the policeman asked her ‘strange’ questions, such as: What were you wearing when it happened ?, implying that it was the girl’s fault that he raped her and that she had provoked her.
While the psychology that is supposed to have a professional training and that should help the girl to get through this inexplicable situation as calmly as possible, threatened to tell the truth, otherwise she would be put in prison and not the perpetrator.
It does not end there, in the forensic examination performed by the gynecologist, she behaved very harshly, telling her that she did not know how to get on the couch, remembering that she was only 12 years old at the time.
None of the state bodies gave proper help to a girl only 12 years old that someone had taken her childhood with dreams, which she did not know if they would return.
“The state did not give me a lawyer, he only did one year and 5 months in prison. Has brought another person him to do bad. From him I also encountered harassment telling me you have grown from all. I’m pretty sure he brought it. The perpetrator has previously been convicted of theft and is known to be problematic. I did not denounce it, but I informed. The Police Inspector came, he was someone who played the role of a psychologist in the police station who stayed with me, he had a forensic examination. The most common question the police asked me was ‘what were you wearing, what were your recipes’ when I was wearing body clothes at the time. Psychology told me to tell the truth that otherwise you will make it to prison. I told her they are all true. On the part of the gynecologist it was very harsh, it was very aggressive when I got on the couch, I did not know how to get on the couch, it made me ‘hey hip’. feet and the driver fled “, said Erika.
Step by step the girl confessed amidst the shame and at the same time the belief that one day justice will be done, every detail of the event. The family forgave the author, even forcing him to marry her to shut up ‘people’s mouths’, but the girl refused. Also, the head of the school excluded him, because according to him “he was an object of trafficking”, an expression that maybe he himself does not understand what it means, or did not want to accept it.
“The author gave the statement and the trial took place in the court of Vlora and the lawyer told me that we almost had a connection, no I told him no. He was sentenced to four years in prison and stayed only one year. My confession has changed, it has nothing to do at all. Dad was at the police station that night and what I said had nothing to do with it, has been changed in court. Affected by my parents’ pardon in court, and a police officer told my fiancé father to close as a matter of course. Dad told me harshly to marry me, but I did not want to. The author’s parents have come to the house to apologize. He was 18 years old at the time. I did not tell my parents that night, the next day a cousin came and told me to call the police. At first we thought about what they had done to me and then they were ashamed. A year after it happened, the perpetrator’s parents spoke to the principal and expelled me from school, accusing me of being trafficked even though they found no evidence. The Police Inspector addressed me violently. I am still living in the village with my family, I am 20 years old now. I was spit on at school because I was considered a slut. Yes I saw him in the area he lives, I saw him in the distance, he did not approach me. let the whole of Albania know what samples they are. I lived in a shelter in Vlora for six months, but I came back, I left school halfway through the eighth grade of high school. I tried to commit suicide, but I wondered why I should do this. I want the case reopened and punished“, Says Erika.
With the help of two people, the only ones who stayed close to her, she is already the author of a book, where she describes the story full of sacrifices “Stain on my name”.
A painful story, at the same time inspiring how you can confidently cope despite everyone turning their backs.
She hopes and is still struggling, while she is already in adulthood that justice will be done, but how this will happen no one is sure.
