Under the call of “bastard killer” were taken to the prosecutor to testify at noon on Monday 8 arrested yesterday in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Greek Alkis Kampanos and their first evidence seems to have changed some of the key data in this case which has shocked the Greek and Albanian public, as in the ranks of the arrested hooligans, there are 3 people of Albanian origin.
According to their latest testimonies, it is said that everyone claims that the killer of the 19-year-old is a 21-year-old Greek and not a 23-year-old of Albanian origin, arrested a few hours after the crime. The 8 detainees have requested and received a deadline to complete their depositions in the coming days of this week and have been returned to the Thessaloniki Police detention centers.
All nine are charged, among others – with the criminal offense of premeditated mass murder, while the charge is being considered if it is a criminal organization. Meanwhile, two other people are wanted, including a 20-year-old man of Albanian origin who left through Kapshtica in the Albanian territory one day after the crime, for which an international arrest warrant is awaited.
According to the first evidence that comes to light from the depositions, the murder attack was carried out in an organized manner, with 11 hooligans heading to the scene in three cars, two of which were discovered. More than half of those arrested, aged between 20 and 23, have had criminal records in the past.
On Monday morning, Prime Minister Mitsotakis called an emergency meeting with several cabinet members to take a series of measures to end fan violence, to close all their illegal associations that use hooligans and people with criminal precedents causing violent confrontations almost every week.
Last year alone, over 250 hooligan attacks were registered in Greece, about 200 people were arrested, but only one was convicted, so changes are expected in the criminal code for these acts of violence in the stadium or outside them.
Public opinion is overwhelmed at noon on Monday by the prayers of the parents of the murdered 19-year-old, who in a news edition of the country’s state channel have called for no revenge in the case of their son, but only justice.
