Hundreds of people protested in Stockholm on Saturday against measures introduced to combat the coronavirus pandemic, thus violating a rule regarding public gatherings.
The protest was not authorized.
Shortly after the protesters gathered in one of the main squares of the capital, they were asked to disperse.
Police have said only eight people are allowed to gather during the pandemic.
The protest, called Swedish Liberty, has been called through several groups on social media, with supporters voicing criticism over restrictions and information provided by authorities.
“Many people in Sweden are fed up with these restrictions, which are unfounded, so they want to face them,” organizer Filip Sjostrom told the Swedish daily Expressen.
Some protesters have also been seen with placards critical of the vaccination.
As of Friday, about 7 percent of the adult population in Sweden had received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, the country’s Public Health Agency announced.
The state of 10.3 million has recorded 13,003 coronavirus-related deaths and 684,000 cases of infection since the pandemic broke out.
