Hungary will not support the European Union-proposed embargo on crude oil imports from Russia because it would destroy its energy security, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
“Brussels sanctions package would halt oil shipments from Russia to Europe, with a rather brief announcement, in the case of Hungary at the end of next year“, Said Szijjarto in a video on Facebook.
He added that Hungary could comply with these measures only if imports of crude oil from Russia via the pipeline were exempted from sanctions.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced earlier that the European Union would completely give up Russian crude oil and refined products by the end of the year.
