A 62-year-old hunter has been killed in retaliation for the bear that fatally wounded him in a northern region of Russia.
Rough images showed the body of the man found in the Irkutsk region of Siberia, while the corpse of the bear shot by him was only 30 meters away.
The professional hunter is believed to have shot the bear from a hunting platform built into a tree.
Perhaps believing that the brown bear was dead, the hunter had come down from the tree and approached, as he was killed by the beast as a ‘final act of revenge’.
The animal is believed to have attacked the hunter with its teeth and claws, breaking its skull in the raging attack.
The hunter was found when a search group was organized for him in the Siberian region.
“When the 62-year-old came down from his nest, the mortally wounded bear attacked and killed him,” wrote the local Interfax agency.
They added that the hunter’s skull was cracked and that there were tooth and claw wounds on his body.
The regional hunting office said that “the injured predator had managed to cause incurable wounds to the hunter”.
This is not the first bear attack in Russian parks.
In June 2021 a brown bear killed a teenager in a national park in Russia after being stabbed by a tourist.
