Ruthless, the latter have spread rapidly sweeping large tracts of land in Boulder County, north of Denver. Officials do not rule out the possibility of deaths and injuries from fires that continue unabated.
State Governor Jared Polis declared a state of emergency, saying the fires “are a real force of nature.” It is not a question of what resources we have, we can not cope alone. “At this point, we are hoping that the winds will change and the momentum of the flames will decrease,” he said. Winds reaching speeds of 169 kph have sparked the spread of flames throughout the region which was previously plagued by a historic drought.
Some of the fires came as a result of the collapse of several high voltage poles by raging winds, and now, they risk becoming one of the most devastating that this country has ever seen in its history. In other parts of the United States, the new year is entering with warnings of strong storms, some of which are expected to hit areas hit by tornadoes two weeks ago, CNN says, stressing the danger especially for Arkansas.
