Russia seeks to destabilize the Transnistrian separatist region, and if Ukraine falls, Kremlin troops will reach the Moldovan capital, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned.
In a message on social media, Mykhailo Podolyak wrote: Russia wants to destabilize the Transnistrian region and hints that Moldova should wait for ‘guests’. “If Ukraine falls tomorrow, Russian troops will be at the gates of Chisinau.”
Earlier, two explosions damaged radio antennas transmitting Russian radio from a village in the breakaway region.
Transnistria, officially the Transnistrian Republic of Moldova (PMR), is a breakaway state from Moldova, internationally recognized as part of Moldova. Transnistria is located on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border.
