About 510 billion lek or almost 4.2 billion euros entered the state coffers last year, surpassing not only 2020 where revenues shrank significantly as a result of the pandemic, but also the annual finance plan.
This positive performance was influenced by both tax and customs revenues.
Compared to a year ago, revenues increased by almost 693 million euros more, reflecting the revival of the economy where receipts have increased in almost all items.
The increase in imports of excise goods as well as the rise in their prices, especially in the second half of the year, has led customs to collect record revenues last year.
In terms of customs revenues, over 131 billion ALL were collected from the VAT alone, almost ALL 30.5 billion more than in 2020, while excise receipts increased by over ALL 7 billion, reaching a total of more than 420m euros over the past year.
More before the consumption tax, VAT has also been collected from labor taxes, as personal income tax receipts reached ALL 39.3 billion, about EUR 46 million more than in 2020.
Revenues from social and health contributions also increased over the last year by over ALL 12 billion more than in 2020, as a result of the increase of the minimum wage, the collection of taxes from the annual income declarations but also from the employment performance. .
While public spending has reached record levels of ALL 596.2 billion at the end of last year, an item that has resulted in almost EUR 491 million more than in 2020.
This has made that despite the positive performance in revenues, the level of budget deficit remains high according to data from the Ministry of Finance at about ALL 85.8 billion, equivalent to over 706 million euros.
