The courts have been paralyzed by the lawyers’ strike, which has entered its second day, a boycott of which more than 2,000 lawyers demand the revision of the new judicial map.
But there is a category of citizens who have not been affected at all by this boycott, and they are the citizens who have filed for divorce. Couples in separation, according to Chancellor Donald Xhelili, have asked civil judges during the day to continue the processes despite the lack of protection.
It’s the divorce suits they’ve come in and they’re seeking judgment and protective orders, and a few property cases.
But the biggest problem was encountered in the most arrested masses, for whom, in the absence of elected lawyers, a provisional solution was requested.
“We have hired free lawyers, mainly from the state, because they have a 48-hour deadline“, says the chancellor of the court, Donald Xhelili.
The closure of many courts in the country, with the most affected being the Appellate courts, which will be consolidated into a single one, brought the second decision by the national bar association to impose a mass boycott of the proceedings.
