The Coronavirus Delta mutation, Omicron, and recently its new subtype Ba2 are currently circulating in Albania. Omicron predominates, but there are hospitalized patients at Covid Hospital due to BA2 infection.
“In 560 samples 86% have resulted omicron a lower percentage with Ba2” –said Silva Bino
Bino does not view the situation with the arrival of the Omicron BA2 mutation as disturbing.
According to Binos Ba2 can cause serious clinics in unvaccinated people and those who have taken the second dose of the vaccine too early.
The omicorn BA2 variant may be dominant after a few weeks as it has a 30% higher infectivity than omicron itself and that only 12% of the target population has been vaccinated with the third dose.
