Former Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia Nikola Gruevski, through a status on his Facebook profile reacted to the blacklisting of the US State Department for corruption.
Gruevski claims that a great injustice has been done to him. “What was published today has been talked about for a long time. Senior officials in Macedonia did not hide in informal circles that they had been lobbying for the same thing to happen for years.
My many years of efforts to resolve the name issue in a different way from what was finally resolved, the decisions related to the migrant crisis and the closure of the Balkan corridor in 2016 and some other decisions to protect the state, national interests, Macedonia’s interests have irritated some countries and attracted many opponents, like George Soros, who made many efforts and funds to overthrow the government I led. I am sorry for the decision of DASH which, among other things, refers to me. The charges against me on the list are inaccurate information to which they have been handed over and are largely the result of the long political persecution against me in Macedonia. From this point of view, even though I have no property in the US, I feel a great injustice, because I have worked very honestly and responsibly, fighting for state and national interests and I have tried as much as I could not to jeopardize the interests. of Macedonia’s allies, I have never worked for personal financial or material gain“, Said Gruevski.
Sasho Mijalkov also reacted through FB. “I am sorry for the decision of DASH and I think it is not right. It is based on misinformation that over time will turn out to be unstable. I have always defended and will defend the interests of Macedonia. “I believe that justice will prevail and the decision of the American administration will be corrected.”wrote the former director of the Department for Security and Counterintelligence in Northern Macedonia.
