The Israeli military said two rockets fired from Gaza landed in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Tel Aviv in the early hours of January 1.
The military said it had not issued warning sirens and no safeguards had been taken.
Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist group that controls Gaza, has not commented on the reported incident.
Last year, Hamas repeatedly fired rockets at Israel during the 11-day conflict that escalated tensions in Jerusalem. But a ceasefire agreement has been in force since May last year.
The Israeli military said in a report released last month that five rockets or mortars had been fired from Gaza since the ceasefire agreement took effect.
On December 29, 2021, an Israeli civilian was wounded by gunfire in Gaza. This prompted the Israeli army to retaliate and as a result three Palestinians were injured.
