Of all the wonderful and strange creatures that can be found in the oceans, a mutant shark with a human face does not often cross your mind.
But a fisherman off the coast of Indonesia was surprised to see just that.
The mutant baby shark was caught by Abdullah Nuren, 48, in the waters of Rote Ndao in the eastern province of Nusa Tenggara.
The fisherman had initially caught an adult shark with his net and when he opened his belly he found three cubs inside.
But one of them had a strangely ‘human’ appearance, with two large round eyes under his wild beak.
“Initially I found the mother shark in the net,” explains Nuren. “The next day I opened her belly and found three puppies in her stomach. “Two looked like mothers but one had a human face.”
Nuren says he took the baby shark to his family to save it. He adds that the Finns had offered to buy it, but he had refused.
“My house is full of people who want to buy sharks with human faces. But I will save it. “I believe it will bring me luck.”
