The Italian Ministry of Public Affairs and Police report that, following the investigation that led to eight arrests on December 1, two other persons ended up in custody. They are a 42-year-old and a 39-year-old, both Italian nationals residing in the Locarno area.
Italian police conducted an investigation between Lugano, Giubiascos, Gambarognos and Asconas, an investigation which was finalized in early December. He led to the arrest of five Albanian citizens aged 24 to 39, a 50-year-old Italian citizen, a 30-year-old man and a 50-year-old Swiss citizen living in the Lugano area.
The two detainees are suspected of having participated in various capacities in cocaine trafficking between Albania, Italy and Ticino. Lugano City Police and Ascona and Minusio Municipal Police also cooperated in the investigation.
The criminal offenses charged are aggravated violation and violation of the Federal Narcotic Drugs Act. The investigation is coordinated by Public Prosecutor Margherita Lanzillo.
