The well-known Spanish writer, Javier Cergas, is in Albania, where he has spoken about literature as recognition between cultures, as well as the art of writing and his literature.

The point is that tyranny is the norm and freedom is the exception. Democracy is fresh in history. Democracy is not perfect freedom and perfect democracy does not exist.
Javier Cercas was born in Caseres, in 1962. He is a Spanish writer and journalist; his work has been translated into more than thirty languages and has been awarded numerous prizes. He has also received two prizes for the entirety of his work: Il Premio Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino in 2011 and Prix Ulysse in 2012.
“When a book is published, it no longer belongs to me, it belongs to the readers. At the beginning of the trilogy I just published is a character who says one of the absolute truths I know. He says; the writer writes half the book, the other half is written by the reader”.
The novels “The Deceiver”, “Monarku i hijeve” and “Soldiers of Salamis” have been translated into Albanian. For his readers, the writer emphasized once again the importance of telling the truth. Although according to him the truth of the writer is not always the truth of the citizens.
“Behind every genocide is a poet. Without rhetoric, without poetry, without words, without lies, there is no genocide or tyranny. So words can be used for good or bad. They are like dynamite.”
