British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the UK would reopen its embassy in Kiev next week after the diplomatic mission moved to Lviv a few days after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine.
Speaking on April 22 during a visit to India, Johnson said “next week we will reopen our embassy in the Ukrainian capital.” However, he did not indicate the exact date when such a thing would happen.
Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said in a statement to the media that the reopening of the embassy would take place due to the “extraordinary resistance and success” of Ukraine’s resistance to Russian forces.
“I want to commend the embassy team for their bravery and hard work during this period,” Truss said.
Earlier this month, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited Kiev to express support for Ukraine, a country that has been facing Russian occupation since February 24.
