The National Institute of Public Health Kosovo – (NIPHK) has announced that the cases of citizens affected by seasonal flu have increased.
In just two months, according to the NIPHK, about ten thousand cases of influenza have been registered.
“From October 1, 2021 to December 9, 2021 in the National Institute of Public Health were reported a total of 9,788 cases of influenza-like illness, 2,033 cases of acute respiratory infections and 57 cases of severe acute respiratory infection,” said in a statement NIPHK -së.
NIPHK however says that although the seasonal flu has not yet reached the epidemic threshold, there is an increased intensity of cases.
“In the laboratories of the National Influenza Center, type” A “of seasonal influenza has been identified, subtype” H3 “, which is found in the component of the influenza vaccine which protects vaccinated persons”, further adds this institution.
Officials of the National Institute of Health of Kosovo warn that the virus “A” belongs to the group of common seasonal flu viruses, but at the same time recommends vaccination for all elderly people, those with chronic diseases and people with immunity to weakened.
NIPHK has given some recommendations on how to protect against this flu, including wearing a mask, maintaining distance with other people and reducing visits to family members hospitalized in various hospitals and clinics in the country.
NIPHK also suggests that in case of flu signs, do not go to work, school or places with many people.
