The session of the Assembly of Kosovo is discussing the increase of the minimum wage in the country, but the deputies of the opposition parties PDK, LDK and AAK are not agreeing on this draft law.
Mërgim Lushtaku from PDK said that this draft law will not be voted because according to him, the definition of the minimum wage in the category of war veterans and people with disabilities has been violated.
Lushtaku said that in essence they support the increase of the minimum wage, but as he said the position should make a social dialogue.
“PDK WG has reviewed the draft laws that determine the amount for the minimum wage. We will not vote on this bill because it violates the definition of the minimum wage, people with disabilities and war veterans. You as LVV, we know very well that you have forgotten a lot with coming to power and you have also forgotten the social dialogue. This aims to increase the minimum wage (in essence we support the increase of the minimum wage), but doing so through a social dialogue. LVV aims to increase its minimum wage, to reach its target and allegedly we have increased the minimum wage. Kurti has promised that the minimum wage will be no less than 350 euros and this is another violation of his promise. As PDK, we see that a great damage is being done to these families and we will not vote for this draft law “said Lushtaku.
Even Avdullah Hoti from LDK has said that this draft law on the way it is written is one of the most meaningless laws.
Hoti said that when the minimum wage is set, a category of people who receive a low wage is saved.
“The way it is written and presented is one of the most meaningless laws. “When the minimum wage is set, it is decided to maintain a category of people who receive a low wage, and it is certain categories of society that link them to the minimum wage, it is an international practice to maintain the standard of living.”he said.
The LDK MP said that the way this law is written does not achieve the goal of social equality.
“Not only to consume public dialogue, but to reach an agreement. This article removes the link between the minimum wage and the benefits received by war veterans. There was a big reason why these two are connecting. The benefit they receive as a war veteran’s pension is a source of income and is therefore linked to the minimum wage. You can not increase the minimum wage and the veteran can not. The law must either be withdrawn or it must be seriously reviewed. “said Hoti, among others.
Beka Berisha from AAK also said that they are against this draft law.
Berisha said that the category of war veterans in this draft law is considered very discriminatory.
“Only veterans do not have a pension as a reward but a source of livelihood. And if they receive this pension they do not have the right to work elsewhere, we see it as a discriminatory approach. Adjust this article to be in proportion to the minimum wage. This category here in the assembly should not be discriminated against. We are against this draft law “, said MP Berisha. / Telegraph
