The Kremlin today reiterated the earlier statement that its forces had not stolen grain from Ukraine in the midst of the war.
Earlier this month, Kiev’s ambassador to Ankara said Turkish buyers were among those receiving grain that Russia had stolen from Ukraine, adding that he had sought Turkey’s help in identifying and apprehending individuals responsible for the alleged shipments.
Asked about Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s comments that Ankara would investigate, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: “You should ask the foreign ministry. “Russia has never stolen wheat.”
Last month, Vladimir Putin told Western leaders he was willing to discuss allowing the export of Ukrainian wheat from Black Sea ports as fears spread about a global food shortage.
More than 20 million tons of grain are unemployed in silos in Ukrainian ports amid a blockade by Russian ships.
