The 44-year-old from the village of Savër in Lushnja was consuming afternoon coffee in one of the bars in Lushnja, when an unidentified person masked with an anti-Covid mask and hat shot 8 times at him, injuring his back and arm.
After the assassination, the perpetrator quickly left the scene and the police have not yet followed in his footsteps.
The motives of this assassination attempt are also unclear to the police. 44-year-old Kujtim Meta was transporting urban waste by truck and has no previous criminal record and family members have proven that he has no conflicts with anyone. The only indication that the police have is the friendship of the target of the assassination with Besnik Hida, who was executed in a bar while drinking his morning coffee on October 1, 2019, an event still without an author. The murder of Besnik Hida is suspected to have been committed by the same assassins of the murder of his nephew Zamir Latifi in October 2017.
