The government has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Health for the introduction of new anti-COVID measures.
With the new measures, the curfew will start from 24:00 to 05:00, while the gastronomy will work until 23:00. Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Minister of Health Rifat Latifi have announced that the mask will be mandatory only indoors. These measures will take effect the next day.
The head of the executive said that the measures have also had an effect on the immunization of citizens, where over the last two weeks over 40 thousand doses of vaccine have been administered.
“Kosovo is managing to overcome the wave of the ‘Omicron’ variant, significantly easier than some other countries in the region and the world. The trend of new cases is falling for the sixth day in a row, it is currently 31 percent lower than the peak. Hospitalizations are at the 16.6 percent peak level of the delta variant and are almost five times lower than at the same stage of that wave.
From 17 to 30 January, according to the European Center for the Control and Prevention of Infectious Diseases per 1 million inhabitants, the deaths were as follows: Kosovo five deaths, Albania 23 deaths, Northern Macedonia 89 deaths, Serbia 52 deaths, Mali i “Black 132 deaths and Bosnia and Herzegovina 146 deaths,” he said.
