The Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Evis Kushi, invited to a combined meeting, online and physical, about 250 teachers on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, March 7.
In her speech, Minister Kushi expressed regret that this meeting could not be organized other than with online participation. She said she would like them to be face to face, where everyone could express congratulations face to face, and shake hands.
“On the other hand, I am very pleased that technology makes it possible for us to be with over 200 teachers in this virtual meeting from all over the country,” she said.
“I can not express in words how privileged I feel to be part of you. “It is difficult for us to compare professions, but if we did, I am convinced that the teaching profession would be at the top of the pyramid of all the noblest professions,” said the minister.
“The teacher also prepares the doctor, the teacher, the politician, the prime ministers. One day they knock on the teacher’s door and wish them March 7 with much humility and gratitude. No matter how successful they are, those in front of the teacher are those students who may have once made a mistake. “They can not hide or deny the love and respect for their teachers,” said Kushi.
“We are saddened by every teacher affected by COVID-19, and unfortunately we have lost some. On the other hand, how much we rejoice in the healing of our teachers who have returned to school with his students, with love and tears in their eyes. “Even when they were sick, their minds were on the students” – underlined the minister.
Kushi added that “online” learning was an unproven experience before, but all together, the teachers, managed to get acquainted and adapt to the new reality.
Mentioning some of the achievements in education, Minister Kushi underlined the importance of the portal “Teachers for Albania”, which established meritocracy in employment. “I will fight hard for teachers to have the right support and dignity they deserve in our society,” said Minister Kushi.
