The European Union has no interest in Kosovo’s status quo continuing indefinitely; This was the message that European Union envoy Miroslav Lajcak conveyed to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade.
It seems that patience is already running out and the bloc is looking for solutions. The dialogue, Lajcak said at the press conference after the meeting with the Serbian head of state, should continue constructively and in good faith. Vucic said he supported Lajcak’s activities, efforts and goals to “come to a solution with the policy of compromise, which would mean dissatisfaction or partial satisfaction for both parties – without ultimatums and imposed solutions.”
We consider that a compromise agreement means: to everyone everything, to everyone enough. “Despite the statements coming from Pristina, which are not encouraging, it is our obligation to be responsible and committed,” he said, insisting at the same time that dialogue does not mean recognizing Kosovo.
He added that Serbia does not set a deadline for reaching a compromise agreement and will insist on the full implementation of the agreements signed with Kosovo in Brussels, including the “Association of Serb-majority municipalities and everything else that has not been met”.
