After the end of the 10-day deadline set for the cancellation of security measures, lawyers in several cities have returned to their development this Monday.
As for other court hearings, the National Chamber of Advocacy will meet on Thursday to decide.
The president of the Bar Association in Korça has informed that the lawyers will return to the development of security measures.
“We return to security measures and juvenile criminal cases, while continuing the boycott of judicial, criminal and civil cases. This decision stands until a second meeting of the general council of the bar association. We will follow the legal path of opposition to the new judicial map, our path is towards Strasbourg. We are in an indefinite boycott“, said the president of the Bar Association in Korça, Arben Lena, in a statement to the media.
Asked if they are making ground with the return to security measures, he said they will meet again to decide how the boycott will continue.
“We are not giving up, we return to security measures and juvenile criminal justice, we reconvene to decide what to do with the boycott“, said Lena.
“The map is not part of the justice reform, Xhafaj stated in a taxing manner that he is against this map and that it is not part of the justice reform. We do not release pe, VKM comes out, the boycott has no effect, VKM is opposed through the law, after the opposition in Albania we will turn to Strasbourg. We will contact the general European Chamber of Advocacy. We have no hope for the executive, the protest was made in the interest of the citizens and not the lawyers, there was awareness from the citizens. The war is now a legal one, I am confident that we will win, because despite this executive will try to put pressure on the Albanian courts, I think we will follow the right legal pathr”, he added in the statement to the media.
Even the lawyers of Durrës continue the boycott of the court hearings this beginning of the week. According to the chairman of the Durrës Chamber of Advocacy, Lorval Petani, the boycott will continue only for court sessions, but lawyers have returned to personal security measures, as a matter of urgent nature.
These measures by lawyers come as a sign of protest against the new judicial map, which merges the district courts in the one of appeal in Tirana. According to the Chambers of Advocacy, this decision is detrimental to the citizens.
