Two executives of the American pornographic network Pornhub have resigned after accusations that images of non-consensual sexual relations, or with minors under the legal age, appeared on the platform.
Pornhub’s parent company, Mindgeek, which is visited by an average of 150 million people a day, denies the allegations of abuse despite the resignation of directors Feras Antoon and David Tassillo – after more than 10 years working in pornographic networks.
The development came after a scandalous report on the company’s practices from the local magazine “The New Yorker”.
In a statement, the MindGeek group, which owns the pornographic site Pornhub, Brazzers RedTube just said that “Antoon and Tassillo leave the usual MindGeek operations after more than ten years in a leadership position.”
It added that the couple had planned to leave earlier this year, but will remain shareholders of the company, writes the British daily The Daily Mail.
The company also criticized the investigative exposure made by ‘The New Yorker’ which, among other things, described how a 15-year-old British woman failed to persuade the company to remove pornographic videos of herself that had been sent without her consent.
The company wrote that The New Yorker had the opportunity to investigate their work to combat illegal materials by checking the facts and results.
Even last year Mindgeek, originally named Manwin, was indicted for violating U.S. federal laws on sex trafficking and pornography of minors under the age of 18.
In 2020, Visa and Mastercard companies stopped paying for the pornographic network Pornhub after a New York Times report revealed illegal sexual content on their sites.
