Some incredible images have been released today as lightning struck near the erupting volcanic mountain of Sinabung in Indonesia.
The storm was preparing terribly to erupt over the volcano, whose ash cloud has risen to 5000 meters altitude.
The lightning strikes illuminated the sky in a purple color of dust.
The images were taken a few days after the volcanic eruption in Karo, north of Sumatra.
Residents were seen leaving the area as recommended within a five-kilometer radius, while others were enchanted by the giant cloud of ash breaking by lightning.
Roy Bangun, 41, said: “Residents are scared, many are staying indoors to avoid thick volcanic ash.”
Monitoring official Muhammad Nurul Asrori, in Sinabung, said the ash cloud was the largest it had seen since 2010.
“The lava dome could explode at any moment, causing an avalanche of scorching clouds,” he said.
