Northern Macedonia has asked Kosovo for facilities for its citizens during the border crossing between the two countries, respectively the review of the decision that provides for entry into Kosovo with three doses of vaccines against COVID-19 or two doses and a negative PCR test.
This was announced by the Minister of Health of Northern Macedonia, Bekim Sali, during a telephone conversation with his Kosovar counterpart, Rifat Latifi.
In a post on the social network Facebook, Minister Sali said that “there is understanding for the decision of the Kosovo Government, which has come given the epidemiological situation in the neighboring country, as well as their capacity to cope with this wave of virus.”
But, at the same time, he said that he conveyed to Minister Latifi, the numerous reactions of the citizens of Northern Macedonia for the obstacle caused by the decision in their movement towards Kosovo.
“Jointly concluding that the situation with the pandemic in both countries is almost the same, I asked my counterpart Latifi to reconsider this decision and seek another opportunity to protect the health of citizens of both countries, but also not their free movement is hindered “, wrote the Minister of Health of Northern Macedonia, Bekim Sali.
The new measures in Kosovo entered into force on 23 January.
