Macedonian Ambassador Dancho Markovski said this Friday from Korca that this week there will be meetings between joint groups on the issue of problems with Bulgaria for EU membership.
Markovski added that he thinks that the issue of Ukraine will not affect the enlargement of the EU and that he expects a political sense from Brussels and all the big states who have seen these times as very important building stability in the Balkans.
Statement:
“We are waiting to solve the problems with Bulgaria, for the Albanian public I want to declare that we are working on this issue, and this means weekly meetings between joint groups. I would like to remind you that so far 4 meetings have taken place between the two prime ministers, in a word, here we are trying to build trust. This will mean that the agreement that will be reached will last even longer. We have traveled together with friendly Albania during these years, what I ask and want as an ambassador is for the EU to recognize us, as well as for Albania and Northern Macedonia to generate stability.
On the question of whether the situation in Ukraine affects EU enlargement: No, I think the opposite, we expect a political sense from Brussels, Washington and all other major states, the situation in Ukraine has shown that building stability especially when we talk about the Balkans , I think you should agree with me, the Balkans are quite divided, the Balkan countries are located on the EU border and in a way they also protect the territory or borders of the EU.
