After meeting with NATO leaders, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Russia is becoming increasingly isolated on the world stage.
Macron said it was important to avoid escalating the conflict and that was why NATO decided to support Ukraine without declaring war on Russia.
“NATO is also reviewing its strategic position as a result of the war,” Macroni added.
Among other things, he added, Western powers are ready to increase sanctions on Russia if necessary, but are trying to demand a ceasefire.
“These sanctions have an impact and are tangible, we must continue them to have a convincing effect on Russia,” he said.
Among other things, it has warned of a food crisis as Ukraine and Russia are the two main exporters, but production has been suspended since the start of the war.
Macron said some countries, including some in the Middle East and North Africa, are dependent on Ukrainian and Russian exports.
“The situation will be worse for a year or 18 months as Ukrainian farmers are unable to plant,” Macron said, urging Western countries and international organizations to mobilize against the coming crisis.
