Strengthening cooperation in the field of health and continuing education of medical staff was the focus of the meeting held today between the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu and Mr. Alain Berset, Vice President of Switzerland and Minister of the Interior, Health and Social Welfare of Switzerland.
During the bilateral meeting, Minister Manastirliu praised the contribution of the Swiss government to support the Albanian government during the pandemic period, the contribution to improving health infrastructure, while emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
“The cooperation in the field of health has been excellent with the Swiss government, so I take this opportunity to thank you because thanks to this cooperation, we have established very good models of primary care centers, which we then replicated in a national program of their rehabilitation. I am pleased that we will start the second phase of this cooperation and we are ready to strengthen our cooperation towards the goal of universal health coverage.
“Strengthening the capacity of human resources is another issue for us of primary importance, where we want to focus cooperation with the Swiss government”, said Manastirliu.
Mr. Alain Berset, Minister of Internal Affairs, Health and Social Protection of Switzerland expressed support for cooperation in the field of health.
“The pandemic showed that only through solidarity can we face such situations, so I am pleased with the assessment you have of the support that Switzerland has given to Albania. I am glad that the cooperation in the field of health has been successful and we will continue this bilateral cooperation “, said Minister Berset.
At the end of the bilateral meeting, the two ministers agreed to further cooperation in the field of continuing education of medical and nursing staff and the continuation of the support program to improve health infrastructure, with a focus on primary health care.
