Manchester United are set to finally sell a forgotten player, with the Premier League club cleared of unwanted names by coach Ralf Rangnick.
During the January break no new players stepped on Old Trafford but there were departures as Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek both moved on loan.
Another player now looks set to leave Manchester United for good, with Andreas Pereira temporarily moving to the Flamengo, which will become a permanent departure.
According to the Brazilian newspaper “Universo Online”, Flamengo officials were in Manchester at the weekend to negotiate the move and the two sides reached a verbal agreement. This report states that United will receive milionë 12 million from the sale of the player, with the bulk in advance and the rest through performance-related bonuses.
One thing remains a bit unclear, with claims that the Brazilian team has agreed to a deal worth 75% of the player’s economic rights.
It is common in South America for players to have partial ownership, not always between teams, but it became illegal in the Premier League after the problem with the moves of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to West Ham.
If Flamengo has agreed to buy 75% of the rights, it remains to be seen when the final 25% of ownership will pass, but Manchester United will not be able to own it next quarter.
Pereira has previously been on loan at Granada, Valencia, Lazio during his time at United, before transferring to Flamengo last year and helping the club reach the Copa Libertadores.
The 26-year-old transferred to Old Trafford in 2011, but has made only 75 appearances in all competitions, with 40 of them in the 2019-2020 season./SuperSport/
