The murder of 32-year-old French journalist Frederic Leclerc-Imoff in Ukraine has caused deep shock. UNESCO Director-General Ondre Azoule condemned the barbaric act and called for a full investigation to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. Leclerc-Imoff was killed in eastern Ukraine while covering an evacuation operation in a nearby town.
“Journalists who work every day in Ukraine to inform us about the reality of the war must be protected from any attack,” said Azule, who insisted that the Security Council resolution on the protection of media workers be respected. According to VolodymirZelensky, since the beginning of the Russian aggression, a total of 32 media workers have been killed in Ukraine.
“A little over a month ago I gave an interview for this TV channel. It was my first interview with the French media during the full war. “My sincere condolences to Frédéric’s colleagues and family,” Zelensky said, referring to a journalist who was reportedly hit by a shell while covering an evacuation operation in Ukraine.
