But not everything is going according to plan. In Izyum, eastern Kharkiv, an official says the evacuation of civilians “has been hampered by Russian bombing.” Oleh Synehubov said the blasts in the suburbs mean evacuation convoys could not be removed.
In Sumy, in northeastern Ukraine, the picture is quite different. People have been able to leave the city by private cars and buses since this morning, the city mayor said.
And in Enerhodar, in the south of Ukraine, convoys of women and children were able to leave, confirms its mayor.

A senior US official says Russia has so far fired 710 missiles at Ukraine and that Russian forces have moved closer to the cities of Kharkiv and Mykolaiv.
