Ahead of May 9, Western officials have speculated that Putin could use the Victory Parade to announce an escalation of military action, and possibly a direct declaration of war.
The Kremlin has rejected the suggestions, calling them “nonsense”, but that will be clear in Putin’s speech on Monday.
