The ark of the former president Bujar Nishani arrived from Germany at the Morini border crossing in the early hours of this Wednesday morning. Kosovo police officers at this border point lined up to honor the funeral procession headed to Tirana.
From 10:00, the former President was laid to rest in the central lobby of the presidency, from where relatives, friends, associates, including many citizens, paid homage.
Meanwhile, the government declared June 2 a day of national mourning in honor of the late former president Bujar Nishani. The decision stipulates that in all public institutions the flag be lowered to half-staff. On Thursday from 10:00 to 12:00 will be held the official funeral ceremony of homage according to the state protocol, to then go to the Sharra cemetery where Mr. Nishani will be buried.
Former President of the Republic, Bujar Nishani passed away today in a hospital in Germany, where he was hospitalized due to complications from Covid 19. For more than a month, the former President was transferred from Shefqet Ndroqi Hospital to a hospital in Germany for a more specialized treatment, but according to doctors there the former President fell into a coma and suffered brain death, unfortunately an irreversible health condition for the former President.
