The eruption of a volcano in the South Pacific Ocean has been as powerful today as it has been seen from space.
The massive underwater volcano has triggered a tsunami that hit the nation-island Tonga in the Pacific Ocean and has activated the alarm for two other countries, international media wrote today.
The blast noise was so loud that it was heard from about 800km according to reports.
The underwater eruption of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haʻapai volcano occurred 65km south of Tonga’s main island, Tongatapu.

His images were clearly visible from satellite imagery on Earth, including the American (NOAA) GOES-West.
Other images shared on social media showed a powerful explosion of gas and smoke rising into the sky from the ocean. Geological services in Tonga said the plume reached 20 km in height and a width of about 700km.

Meteorological services in New Zealand recorded “very unusual” parameters of atmospheric pressure. A tsunami alert was issued for the US states of California and Alaska.
