A group of students who completed internships in the Municipality of Tirana received internship certificates, and some of them have joined public institutions where they can work. The certificates were distributed by the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj and the Minister of Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi.
“Some of you have joined the Municipality of Tirana, while some others have started their CV with such a certificate to apply for a job, either in the institutions of the municipality, or in those of the central government or in private. But, through this program, I am sure that you have understood the basics of what leadership is “, said Veliaj in his speech.
Describing them as “colleagues” of tomorrow, the mayor said that the young people will have all the necessary support to move forward. He encouraged young people to take initiatives, while emphasizing that the destiny of the city is its continuous growth, as a place of opportunities, which welcomes with open arms the life investment of each of its citizens. “I look forward to hearing your great stories, which you will realize in this city, which for most of you is your new home. I do not know if it would be another city as open as Tirana. This city, since it was determined that it would be the capital of Albania, has only grown and will grow, as a big heart and an open door for everyone “, said Veliaj.
The Minister of Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi, stressed the importance of having such a practice, as she stressed, her generation and the mayor have not had the same opportunity.
“For 6 years, we have undertaken a national internship program, which has been directly focused on creating a young people experience in the public sector and this is an opportunity that perhaps, a part of you, already takes it for granted. But I want to remind you that my generation has not had this opportunity. I think every internship gives you a very important element to understand what that job is that you are involved in during the internship, to learn a little more about yourself, what are the skills you need for life, but “above all to work with different leaders”, said Minister Muzhaqi.
The Municipality of Tirana offers internship opportunities for all young men and women who are pursuing higher university studies at home and abroad, or are in the beginning of their careers. Every intern has the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge and undertake concrete tasks, getting involved in projects related to urban development, tourism, culture, sports, environment, social services, local economic development, human resource management, etc.
