The murder of Prek Tonaj, in the village of Grude in Shkodra is still without an perpetrator, while several people were escorted to the police where they were interrogated about the event. The perpetrator is suspected of keeping the victim for days until he found the moment to shoot him.
On Sunday evening, the victim Preke Tonaj, left his house a few meters away and came to consume something inside this bar. Just minutes later, a masked man entered the bar, threatened other customers not to move, approached the victim, communicated a message and then shot him, leaving him dead.
The perpetrator used the darkness in the area to leave while the police are working to identify him. The prosecution suspects that the murder was caused by blood feuds because in the past, the Tonaj family had two other sons killed. During the communist period, Nikolle Tonaj was killed in prison while in 1996, the family would take revenge by killing the perpetrator.
Years later, in 2011, the Tonaj tribe would clash with another tribe from Dukagjini, where Zek Tonaj was also killed. These murders lead the Shkodra prosecutor’s office to suspicions that the execution of Prek Tonaj on Sunday evening came as a result of blood feuds between the tribes.
