Iljaz Çali was killed on Sunday evening on the secondary road Tirana-Durrës.
The victim was ambushed as he was traveling in a rented ‘Land Rover’ vehicle, when he was shot.
The assassins were positioned about 100 meters away and at the moment when they fired an automatic burst towards Çali’s vehicle, he lost control of the car and as a result he collided with the side curb.
The first unofficial information from the investigative group says that he was shot with 6 bullets and it is also being investigated if there was an exchange of fire.
The police actions for this murder continued with some checks in the hospitals of Tirana, if any injured person could have gone for treatment.
From the first data provided by the investigative group is that Cali is a shareholder in a mine in Northern Albania.
In state police files he appears to be a name unknown to law enforcement agencies.
After the robbery of money at Rinas airport in July 2016, the police included in the controls the apartment of Iljaz Çali, in Fushë Krujë, where 682 cannabis roots were discovered. At that time, according to the reports of the State Police, the mother of the victim, Xhemile Çalin, was handcuffed.
Çali himself would be arrested a few weeks later.
