In an effort to help domestic tourism in Australia and spark nostalgia, Qantash has introduced Mysterious Flights.
Day trips, where passengers do not know the destination when boarding a plane, were very popular in the 1990s.
Earlier Qantas became one of the first airlines to offer flights to nowhere, where the plane took off and landed at the same airport after traveling at low quotas over iconic Australian landmarks.
Mysterious flights are the latest tactic of Australian companies to attract more passengers. Flights will be operated with one of Qantas’ three Boeing 737s, from Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney with economy class tickets starting at A $ 737 or US $ 577.
The daily package includes activities ranging from wine production and gourmet lunches, to stops on tropical islands. With international borders not expected to reopen until 2022, Qantas has asked the government for guarantees on domestic travel now that vaccination in
Australia is on track. Airlines across the region are actually coming up with different strategies to tackle the pandemic crisis, with Thai Airways announcing this week that it will reduce its workforce by 50 percent.
The crisis has led to government bailouts, collapses and huge job cuts. Companies are facing a huge drop in passenger numbers, while the vaccination campaign is moving slowly and borders are still closed.
